A SIKH WEDDING IN PHOTOGRAPHS
A day held
close.
Manpreet Chera
A ceremony shared with family, a maroon veil among the winter trees, and a few quiet moments for two. The wedding day leads this story; the celebrations around it follow.
Enter the story01 · THE WEDDING DAY
Together, before
the sangat.
Inside the gurdwara, the couple sat with family gathered around them. We begin with the Anand Karaj: a glance across the aisle, the ceremony itself, and the walk together.
02 · AFTER THE CEREMONY
Only the two
of them.
Outside, the pace changed. Portraits among the trees hold the details of the day: the ivory sherwani and maroon turban, the embroidered lehenga, and the ease between them.
03 · BEFORE THE WEDDING
Color, ritual,
and family.
The celebrations before the ceremony brought yellow and pink to Haldi, red bangles to the bangle ceremony, and a richly dressed groom to Jaggo. Each frame adds a little more of the family story.
04 · THE RECEPTION
A night to
remember.
After the wedding came the reception, dancing, and one last set of portraits in the night light.
